A Royal Highn(ass) Walks into The Met Gala…

on
May 9, 2019

This week Prince Harry and Meghan welcomed a boy and Hollywood raised a record breaking amount at The Met Gala.  The fact that these occurred on the exact same day is no coincidence…

The Met Gala

is a star studded charity exhibition that raises money for the Met’s Costume Institute. Similarly, the Royal baby will devote his life to the cause known as…uh, what do the Royals do?

One does not need to understand fashion to watch the Gala in awe (or bewilderment). Much like the Royal family where Americans treat the Royals like close relatives when they are not directly impacted by the family. Which side of the family do you think they’re on?

The Gala’s theme was “Camp.” Anyone who can explain this gets the top bunk. The Royal baby will surely have a normal childhood and attend summer camp. He doesn’t even have a royal title for goodness sake.

To no one’s surprise, Princess Diana did attend and support the Met Gala. She also has a little something to do with the new baby (hopefully his looks).

Lastly, the Royals waited to reveal the baby’s face and on the Gala’s red carpet, Jared Leto revealed two faces.

In Driving Miss Do, I couldn’t be identified. Today, I didn’t want to be.

At work I needed to make a long distance phone call. The instructions stated to punch in a specific code prior to dialling the number. To dial out of the building I pushed 9 and followed with the code. It began with 116. If you can predict where this is going, keep the eye rolling to a minimum.

Before I could complete the code, the phone begun to ring. I quickly hung up. This occurred twice.

Turning to my colleague I said, “either this code is incorrect or I’m doing something wrong.”

There was a 50/50 chance. Or maybe a 10/90.

That afternoon I was speaking with the Administrative Secretary when she received a call. She emphasized the importance of executing the long distance code properly so 911 isn’t called.

When she hung up, she informed me that 20 minutes prior the Police had arrived following an assumed long distance call error. The only scene they would have witnessed is the sound of an out of tune piano in the lobby.

I put my Nancy Drew skills to the test later on that evening.   I had been trying to dial out around the time she was referring to. The phone began to call a number that was not a 10 digit number. The first 3 numbers I would have punched in were 9-1-1. My finger prints (and reputation) were all over the evidence. 911 was called not once, but twice.

My apologies to the busy men and women of the Calgary Police Department because the real emergency is the fact that  I don’t even remember who I was trying to get a hold of.

I am no Princess, just a Royal Highn – ass.

Rachelle
Canada

Hey there. I’m Rachelle. I’m a Saskatchewan girl living in an Albertan world. I enjoy the simple things in life like all you can eat sushi, that spiral brush on my eyebrows and freshly vacuumed carpet. I’m a Recreation Therapist and my day is about as predictable as my curls. The people I’ve had the pleasure of working with and my own clumsiness has resulted in some pretty entertaining stories. This blog is simply a place to share those stories and hopefully bring a smile to your face too.
