Kriss Kross Another Loss

on
November 2, 2017

Nothing makes a person feel more bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning than a pitch black bedroom and driving to work through a black tunnel.Thankfully, Sunday is Daylight Saving Time, so I have one more hour of sleep and one more hour of darkness in the morning…

Throughout the work week my wake up time becomes more ambitious until Friday. Monday my alarm sounds the latest as possible. Tuesday I wake up ten minutes earlier than I did the day before. Wednesday another ten minutes earlier and by Thursday, I finally reach my ideal wake up time. By Friday, where’s the snooze button? There is zero consistency with my alarm (and the days I have enough time to wash my hair), but there is consistency with me arriving to work on time, so I have that going for me.

Kriss Kross was a hip hop duo from the early 90s. They had this one hit song titled “I missed the bus” (you can probably predict what the song is about) and a section of the lyrics are:

I went to bed late but I didn’t think late would effect me
Early came around then late wouldn’t let me
Wake up, wake up, so I can get dressed
I guess my body was mad cause I gave it no rest

Pushing the limits to lay in bed is not the only thing Kriss Kross and I have in common, they were also known for wearing their clothes backwards…

In Hi-de-hoe Phil, I did not have the correct name. Today, I did not have the correct fashion.

Each morning I assist with serving coffee to the residents because we all know, when you need your coffee, you need your coffee now.

When speaking to residents who are sitting down or using a wheelchair, I bend down to maintain eye contact with them and I also enjoy the burning sensation in my knees.

One particular morning, each time I would bend down, it felt like my backside was peaking out and I couldn’t understand why since I had never had this concern with these pants before or any pants I should mention.

As I stood up, I noticed the bulge created at the front of my pants and it dawned on my that my pants were on backwards.

I suddenly had flashbacks to when I was in the second grade and was helping the teacher pass out worksheets. I was wearing green jeans that had little flowers on the front pockets, except one day, the little flowers were on my backside. One child kindly informed me that my pants were on backwards.

The only difference this time was that I was the one who realized, but there was a resident near by who witnessed me glance at the tag on my pants.

She said “oh no, you’re having a rough morning.”

If she only knew that this was child’s play compared to most days.

As Kriss Kross raps, “this is something I will never ever ever do again” (at least this week).

Rachelle
Canada

Hey there. I’m Rachelle. I’m a Saskatchewan girl living in an Albertan world. I enjoy the simple things in life like all you can eat sushi, that spiral brush on my eyebrows and freshly vacuumed carpet. I’m a Recreation Therapist and my day is about as predictable as my curls. The people I’ve had the pleasure of working with and my own clumsiness has resulted in some pretty entertaining stories. This blog is simply a place to share those stories and hopefully bring a smile to your face too.
